Police in Newark notified area hospitals to be on the lookout for walk-in gunshot victims as officers investigated a shots-fired incident in the city's Central Ward.
The early morning shooting happened around 12:20 a.m. near 537 South 10th Street near Belgium Street.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the neighborhood and when officers arrived, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred.
Still, after a search of the community, no victims were found.
Police say an unoccupied vehicle was found struck by bullets.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
