An armed robbery of a bank in Montclair has authorities charging an Elizabeth man.
Police said Eric Tyler, 22, handed a note to one of the tellers at the Bank of America branch located at 441 Bloomfield Avenue at approximately 9:30 a.m. saying he was armed “and would shoot the teller if they did not hand over money".
Authorities said the teller emptied the drawer and handed nearly $10,000 in cash over to Tyler, according to police.
A lockdown of the area including by police and federal authorities searching for the suspect. Authorities boarded several NJ Transit buses where they interviewed several passengers, which led them to Tyler.
Tyler, still holding the bag containing cash, was arrested and charged with armed robbery and making terroristic threats.
