NJ State Police reported no injuries in a pursuit that ended in an arrest and at least one person at-large in Somerset County Wednesday night.
The high-speed pursuit began when officers attempted to stop the driver of a Jeep who broke several traffic violations in Greenwich Township NJ.
Police say the driver ignored officers' light and sirens and sped eastbound on the highway at approximately 120 MPH. State Police requested assistance from an aviation unit as the driver of the suspected vehicle recklessly sped through that section of I-78, passing several counties.
According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle came to a halt off on I-78 to near the Bedminster/Warren border, where several suspects bailed from the car and initiated a foot pursuit.
According to police reports, one female suspect was taken into custody and a male who occupied the vehicle was also arrested near King George Road.
NJSP aviation, a K-9 unit, and officers from several municipalities assisted in canvassing the area for a suspect who escaped on foot. Police say residents in the Somerset County communities were never in danger.
The incident is under investigation at this time.
