There is an active search underway for an armed suspect wanted for a carjacking in Newark's South Ward on Monday night.
Police say at approximately 11 p.m., they received calls reporting a carjacking in progress in the 400 block of Chadwick Avenue.
Units arrived and found the victim, who reported that an armed suspect stole their white BMW with a reported NJ license plate number "B96-MJH."
Police canvassing the several South Ward neighborhoods found the unoccupied vehicle near Watson and Badger avenues a short time later.
Newark Police will handle the investigation.
