Police arrested two suspects who led them on a high-speed pursuit through several sections of Newark late on Saturday night.
In the preliminary investigation, police say officers attempted to pull over the vehicle's driver reportedly wanted for several felonies in the county.
Police say the driver sped ignore their lights and sirens and barreled through Newark's South Ward at high rates of speed.
According to police, the driver lost control near Bergen and 18th Avenue and crashed in that Ward Ward community around 11:35 p.m.
A female suspect immediately exited the car and was apprehended by police, but the male driver was pinned inside the vehicle and required assistance from Newark emergency responders and firefighters.
Police say EMS arrived at the scene to assist the suspects with non-fatal injuries then transported them to University Hospital for further treatment.
No officers were injured in the crash and the incident remains under investigation.
