Police in Newark are investigating the cause of a crash in the city's downtown Sunday morning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that just before 2:15 a.m., a vehicle traveling northbound on McCarter Highway near Market Street collided with a Newark Police cruiser at that location.
The driver of the civilian vehicle or no officers suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash.
Officials say the crash investigation took out the right lane of the road.
Police have not released what caused the crash at this time.
