Authorities in Bergen County are reporting the arrest of Mr. Ryan O. Dennis, 29, of Hackensack, on a charge of Aggravated Arson.
In a statement from Bergen County authorities, officials alleged that at approximately 4:13 p.m. Thursday, the Hackensack Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance inside Apartment 153 Clinton Place..
Officials said a building tenant advised responding officers that several loud banging and shattering noises came from inside Apartment 2C.
According to police, upon entering the apartment, officers observed that a section of carpet in a bedroom was on fire and located a male party seated inside the apartment.
Officers extinguished the blaze and during their investigation, they determined that Dennis was alone inside the apartment during the disturbance and that he intentionally set the fire.
Officials said Dennis was processed then released on his own recognizance and is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey, on Monday, February 22, 2021.
