Fire officials in Passaic County activated about 9-alarms for manpower for a massive fire that destroyed a Passaic factory during the overnight hours.
The ferocious blaze ripped through the Atlantic Coast Fibers recycling factory located in the 100 block of 7th Street just before 11:40 p.m.
More than 100 firefighters from multiple municipalities in Bergen, Passaic, and Essex counties arrived at the scene and found thick smoke and heavy flames engulfing the recycling plant.
Crews began to make entry inside the factory, but smoke billowed from the large building forcing firefighters to evacuate and began an exterior attack.
As firefighters continued to battle the extensive fire, officials said the seat of the blaze was deeply involved in the waste and was not under control as of 3:30 a.m. Officials say firefighters stretch several lines and they continued to battle the fire through the early morning hours.
There were no serious injuries immediately reported.
