Police in Orange are on the search for two suspects wanted for a violent attack on a man using a baseball bat in an aggravated assault incident that occurred in the city Thursday.
According to authorities, officers responded to reports of an assault in progress on Central Avenue and Scotland Road, called in by witnesses. Rapid responding Orange police officers arrived and were told that the injured victim was inside of Hong Am Chinese Store located at 458 Central Avenue.
According to the victim, while on Conover Terrace, he talked to a female taking groceries inside her residence.
Police say while the victim was there, two males approached him and tried to instigate a physical altercation. The victim said he ran away from the suspects, but the males followed him.
When the assailants caught up with the victim at Scotland Road and Central Avenue, they beat him with a bat.
”He managed to get away from them and ran into Hong Am Chinese Restaurant, where they followed him in and struck him several more times and then ran away,” police said.
The store employees told police that they were in the back cooking and did not witness the incident.
Police say additional units responded and canvassed the area for the suspects with negative results.
EMS transported the victim to East Orange General Hospital suffering a head injury and a cut on his right hand.
