NJ TRANSIT will resume rail service this morning, operating on a Severe Weather Level 2 service schedule. Also, all bus, light rail and Access Link services will resume operating on a weekday schedule.
Officials said customers are advised to regularly monitor njtransit.com, their individual line accounts on Twitter, or customize your personal travel alerts on our mobile app to receive push notifications for the latest service information. We continue to urge customers to reserve travel for essential purposes only.
Rail
Service on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line and Atlantic City Rail Line will resume at 11 a.m. and operate on a Level 2 – Severe Weather Schedule.
Service on the Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton, Main/Bergen, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis Lines will resume at noon on a Level 2 Severe Weather Schedule.
Bus
Bus Service will resume systemwide at noon today, giving local municipalities enough time to clear roads without our buses hampering those efforts.
South Jersey bus service operated through the service day yesterday and is currently operating as scheduled today.
Light Rail
Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will resume operating on a weekday schedule at 10 a.m.
Newark Light Rail will resume operating on a weekday schedule at 11 a.m.
River LINE operated through the service day yesterday on a regular weekday schedule and is currently operating on a weekday schedule today.
Access Link
Access Link Service will resume systemwide at noon today.
Access Link Region 3 service in South Jersey operated through the service day yesterday and is currently operating as scheduled today.
Due to severe winter weather impacting the region, in an abundance of caution for the safety of our customers and employees, NJ TRANSIT temporarily suspended rail service, central and north New Jersey bus service, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and Newark Light Rail services, and Access Link services in all regions except Region 3 in South Jersey last evening.
NJ TRANSIT’s River LINE service, South Jersey bus service and Access Link Region 3 service in South Jersey continued to operate through the service day yesterday and are operating as scheduled today.
Systemwide Cross-Honoring in Effect on December 17th: To give customers additional travel options during the storm recovery, NJ TRANSIT will offer full systemwide cross-honoring for the entire service day on Thursday, December 17th, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—light rail or bus—including private bus carriers.
For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their bus pass or ticket on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station. Customers using their tickets or passes to travel to a destination other than the destination printed on their original ticket will be subject to the appropriate additional fare if applicable.
NJ TRANSIT crews continue to work throughout the system to address storm-related impacts. Before leaving the house, customers should visit njtransit.com for the latest service information. We continue to urge customers to avoid unnecessary travel. Governor Murphy’s state of emergency, issued yesterday at 2 p.m., is still in effect, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.
NJ TRANSIT’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains open and continues to monitor any impacts the storm has on the system.
Customers are strongly advised to build in extra travel time and anticipate delays and potential cancellations.
