Police in Newark are investigating a domestic assault incident that had a man attack his mother with a sharp object inside a high-rise building in the city's North Ward.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to Collonades Apartment building located at 25 Clifton Avenue to investigate reports of an assault in progress.
Upon arrival, police found a woman on the 18th floor of the building suffered from a non-life-threatening slash wound to her ear after her emotionally distressed son went on the attack shortly before 12:50 a.m.
According to police, the suspect was detained then taken to the hospital for an evaluation and the woman was treated for her injury.
There were no other injuries reported.
