Police are investigating a shots-fired incident that seriously injured a male at a gun range in Union Township Saturday night.
In what's believed to be a self-inflicted incident, police responded to reports of an injured person at the RTSP gun range located at 2438 US-22 around 7:25 p.m.
Officers arrived and found an unidentified person suffering a bullet wound in their head at that location.
Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital in serious condition.
The shooting remains under investigation and there were no other injuries reported.
UNION POLICE UPDATE: On Saturday, November 21st, at about 7:22 PM Police headquarters received a 9-1-1 call from The RTSP range, at 2348 Rt. 22 east. An employee reported that a man had shot himself at the firing range.
Sergeant Dan Hanselmann & Officer Thyago Morais were the first to arrive and performed first aid. Additional medical personnel responded to the scene and assisted with first aid on the man, who was transported to University Hospital and is in critical condition.
Detectives also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
The preliminary finding is that 3 friends went to the range to do target shooting. The victim fired a few shots downrange and then put the gun to his head and fired the weapon.
The initial conclusion is that it was a suicide attempt and not an accident or horseplay, but the Detectives are investigating this shooting to gather more facts.

There is no danger to anyone else and no one else at the range was injured.
