A "suspicious packages” found outside the city hall this morning prompted a response from the county’s bomb squad, but was deemed to be harmless, authorities said.
According to officials, the packages - two suitcases and a backpack - were discovered shortly before 8:30 this morning.
Grove Street between Montgomery and Mercer streets were closed off during the investigation, according to reports.
Occupants in the building were escorted to the east side of the building, away from the front of the building.
According to city officials, Jersey City firefighters and the police Emergency Services Unit Bomb Squad investigated and determined that bags posed no threat to the safety of occupants or community. The bags appeared to have been abandoned, they added.
No one has come forth to claim the packages.
