Firefighters are on the scene of a multi-alarm fire that destroyed a house in a section of Rahway on Friday afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, Rahway firefighters responded to the 1200 block of Maple Terrace after they received reports of a fire around 1:25 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found thick smoke billowing from a two and a half story wood-framed house with flamed ripping through the upper level of the structure.
Firefighters immediately learned that there were trapped occupants inside the home and immediately began the process of making entry.
Once crews made it inside the burning home, they found a seriously injured person, according to on-scene reports.
Two other victims were also found suffering injuries during a search of the structure.
According to reports, the more seriously injured of the victims was transported to St. Barnabas Burn Center in Livingston for treatment of serious injuries.
As of 2:30 p.m., fire officials had not placed the blaze under control and the cause remains under investigation.
