74-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead in Camden

Detectives are investigating two unrelated homicides in Camden on Sunday, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Joseph Wysocki.

Police responded to the 1800 block of Mulford Street around 10 a.m. for a ShotSpotter Activation of multiple gunshots fired.

Officials say when police arrived, they found a woman shot inside a vehicle.

She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Ms. Sheila Baskins, 74, of Camden. The shooting remains under investigation.

Hours later, officials say police were called to the intersection of S. 30th and Stevens streets for a reported fight around 2:40 p.m.

Officers responded and located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest.

He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The stabbing victim was identified as Tyree Gacutan, 32, of Camden.

The stabbing also remains under investigation.
