Police officials in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred near a highway in the city's South Ward Saturday night.
According to police, officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of 452 Lyons Avenue around 10:35 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene and began to canvass the area for victims, according to police.
Police say multiple shell casings were recovered near I-78 on Fabyan Place, but no victims were reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
