Firefighters in Rahway extinguished a fast-moving fire that broke out inside a hotel on a highway in the city late Monday morning.
According to officials, crews were called to 1650 Route 1 after receiving reports smoke coming from one of the rooms in the motel at around 11:10 a.m.
When they arrived at the Rodeway Inn, they found that the fire was isolated to one room. The building was then evacuated and the crews found no injured or trapped occupants.
Officials report that firefighters were able to contain the fire and it was placed under control 11:35 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
