NJ State Police officials are investigating a double pedestrian strike that killed a man on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River Saturday night.
NJ State Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Frank Puglisi, 21, of Staten Island, N.Y., and Mr. Daniel Cintron, 50, from Ossining, N.Y., were standing outside of their vehicle on the right shoulder of the Garden State Parkway in the area of milepost 86 southbound when a Mercury Mountaineer driven by Mr. Roberto Sandoval-Guerrero, 37, from Toms River, struck both pedestrians.
It appeared that the victims’ vehicle had mechanics issues according to reports.
State police officials said as a result of the crash, Frank Puglisi sustained moderate injuries, but Daniel Cintron sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the Mercury was not injured.
The right two lanes of the Garden State Parkway southbound lanes were closed for approximately 5 hours resulting in minimal traffic congestion.
The accident remains under investigation and there is no further information.
