There is a crash investigation underway with the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office being notified of severe injuries at an intersection in Woodbridge.
According to a preliminary investigation, emergency responders rushed to the vicinity of Route 1&9 at Randolph Avenue at approximately noon.
Upon arrival, firefighters and rescue crews began the process of extraction for several victims trapped inside a severely damaged vehicle at that location.
According to authorities, seven victims suffered various injuries, with the most seriously injured needing to be airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick.
The other victims were transported to area hospitals suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
