Paterson Firefighters are receiving assistance from several municipalities to battle a multi-alarm fire that's tearing through several buildings at a location in the city.
According to a preliminary report from fire officials, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a heavy fire ripped through a multi-family building at 77 Mill Street, just outside the city's historic district.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy flames extending to building numbers 73, 75, 79, 81, and 83.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was requested to the scene to assist in the investigation.
Officials say as of 3:30 a.m., there were reports of trapped occupants, but crews have not found any injured victims as of 4 a.m.
60 residents were displaced by the blaze.
The fire was placed under control around 5:30 a.m.
