Fugitive Apprehension Detectives Arrest Newark Man for March Shooting

Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Michael McDonald, 30, of Newark, for an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Tuesday, March 10.

According to a statement released by police, at approximately 7:10 p.m., a man exited a vehicle and began shooting toward passengers in another car in the 800 block of South 14th Street.

Police say no victims were reported injured as a result of this incident.

Shooting detectives identified Michael McDonald as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

He was taken into custody by members of the Newark Police Division’s Fugitive Apprehension Team along with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on August 7th without incident, according to police.

Police charged McDonald with four counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm for an illegal purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
