The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the investigation into a shooting that fatally injured two victims in Trenton on Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to the 300 block of Centre Street around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found two unconscious and unresponsive victims suffering bullet wounds.
Police say the unidentified pair were pronounced dead the scene.
According to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, the recent homicide marks the 23rd and 24th murders in New Jersey’s state capital.
The motive for the shootings remains under investigation.
