The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has been notified of a shooting that involved a police officer in Jersey City a short time ago.
According to a preliminary investigation, police opened fire on an unidentified male in the vicinity of 25 Hopkin Place just before 6:25 p.m.
The suspect was struck two times and transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
Police say an officer was also taken to the hospital for an unspecified injury but was not shot.
The investigation into what caused the officer to shoot the suspect is in its early stages.
There were no other injuries reported.
