Governor Announces New Jersey Coronavirus Cases Rise to 180,970

Governor Phil Murphy has announced on his [Twitter](https://twitter.com/GovMurphy?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1288882716637900800%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fnewjersey.news12.com%2Fstory%2F42433913%2Fgov-phil-murphy-261-new-cases-of-coronavirus-16-additional-deaths) that as of today, New Jersey has [261 new coronavirus cases](https://twitter.com/GovMurphy/status/1288882716637900800?s=20).

This brings the statewide total up 180,970 cases since the pandemic began.

Governor Murphy also announced 16 more COVID-19 related deaths bringing the state total to 13,934

This announcement comes the day after the Governor [tweeted](https://twitter.com/GovMurphy/status/1288521822141583365?s=20) that the number of cases in New Jersey rose back to where it was at the end of June.

In that tweet, Governor Murphy praised the progress that the state has made over the last four months but warns not become complacent stating "we cannot go backwards."
