Police in East Orange are investigating the cause of a crash that occurred in the city Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, the crash happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. in the vicinity of Central and South Maple avenues.
Police say the driver of the car lost control and slammed into a tree at that location.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said the injuries were non-fatal at this time.
Police have not confirmed if any other injuries were reported at this time. Officials said police were not chasing the vehicle.
Essex County authorities are looking into the possibilities that the driver was speeding.
The crash remains under investigation.
