The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with a shooting investigation where a 13-year-old male was shot on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township.
According to a statement, on Sunday, July 12, at approximately 4:06 a.m., troopers from the Troop “A” Atlantic City Expressway Station responded to milepost 7.2 westbound for the report of a shooting.
Upon the trooper’s arrival, they found a 13-year-old male victim conscious and alert seated inside of a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
Officials say he sustained three gunshot wounds and was treated at the scene before being taken to an area hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.
Detectives at the scene determined a total of seven shots were fired from an unidentified passing vehicle on the westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway.
It is believed the vehicle exited the Expressway at exit 7s to the Garden State Parkway southbound.
