Elizabeth Police are reporting an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in the city Saturday night.
In about a half dozen commercial armed robberies that occurred in Essex and Union counties during the overnight hours, at approximately 11:45 p.m., masked armed robbers arrived at the Shell Gas Station located at 592 Spring Street, then robbed the establishment at gunpoint.
Police say the suspects took an unknown amount of proceeds before speeding away from the scene.
Elizabeth Police officers canvassing streets near the gas station attempted to stop a white Dodge Charger, with a reported NJ license plate number "J57-LJB", but the driver ignored officer's lights and sirens then sped away.
Police chased the officers northbound on Route 1&9 into Newark, where they lost the suspects on McCarter Highway and Lombardy Street.
Newark Police said the unoccupied vehicle was found in the vicinity of Hamilton Street and New Jersey Railroad Avenue.
Authorities believe that the suspects are wanted for 4 three other robberies that occurred in Newark during the overnight.
There were no physical injuries reported.
