Middlesex County authorities are investigating the circumstances behind the drowning of a child in East Brunswick on Independence day.
According to a statement released by authorities, at 5:13 pm, the East Brunswick Police Department responded to a home on Sandalwood Drive for a four-year-old drowning victim.
Officials say while officers responded to the scene, police dispatch advised that the child was out of the pool but unresponsive.
Upon the officer’s arrival, CPR was being performed on the child by the homeowner. Officers, along with Robert Wood Johnson EMS, took over CPR and transported the male child to Robert Wood Johnson hospital utilizing a police escort police said.
Authorities said the investigation revealed that a child fell into the pool during a kindergarten graduation party.
When adults realized he was missing, police say, a family member observed him at the bottom of the in-ground pool. The initial investigation determined that the incident was captured on video and was not suspicious.
The child remained on life support until the Middlesex County Medical Examiner reported that the victim succumbed to his injuries resulting from the drowning, and was pronounced deceased at 10:55 pm on July 5th.
