BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor announced the arrests of Mr. Hafeez A. Brown, 33, Exeter Road, Linden, and Mr. George A. Bease, 32, Bayberry Road, Bridgewater.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on Saturday at approximately 11:53 p.m. Bridgewater Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an individual suffering from a gunshot wound traveling on North Bridge Street towards Route 22.
Somerville Police along with Bridgewater Township Police encountered the vehicle on Route 22 Eastbound where they made contact with the occupants.
Officers observed an adult male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound and immediately began life-saving measures while waiting for emergency medical personnel. Responding Bridgewater Officers ascertained that the shooting incident occurred near a residence on Bayberry Road and Foothill Road.
Officials say the adult male victim, whom authorities have identified as Mr. Roobino Philemon, 30, Kling Street, West Orange was transported to an area trauma center where he was pronounced deceased.
Bridgewater Police Officers responded to the area of Bayberry Road and Foothill Road where they made contact with numerous individuals departing from a residence on Bayberry Road and observed additional occupants inside of the residence according to Somerset County officials.
A mutual aid call for service was requested, Somerset County Law Enforcement Officers from numerous municipalities along with New Jersey State Police Troopers from the Somerville Barracks responding to the scene forming a tactical perimeter.
A brief shelter in place was initiated for local residents.
The Somerset County SWAT team activation was initiated along with County Crisis Negotiators who subsequently made contact with five (5) occupants inside of the residence, who complied with law enforcement and exited the residence without incident.
