Irvington fire officials are looking into what caused a fire that ignited inside a home in the Township Saturday morning.
According to officials, firefighters responded to 12 Hennessy Place after receiving calls of a house fire with possible trapped occupants shortly before 2:50 a.m.
Crews arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the basement of a home then extended to the first floor.
According to reports, crews swiftly located the seat of the blaze then extinguish the fire under 30 minutes. A search of the home indicated no trapped or injured occupants. One firefighter was transported to the hospital, suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The American Red Cross provided emergency shelter to about a dozen residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
