Police in Newark are reporting that police reunited a non-communicative 5-year old autistic boy with his mother after the missing child was located today.
According to police, shortly after 1:30 a.m., police were flagged down in the 100 block of Clinton Avenue by a concerned citizen who turned the child over to the officers.
Police took the child to University Hospital for evaluation, where he was reunited with his mother, who had reported the child missing.
Police say the child was unharmed.
This matter is not considered suspicious, but will remain under investigation by the Newark Special Victims Unit and New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency.
