Police are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing a man in the stomach in Elizabeth Friday evening.
Officials say at approximately 7:10 p.m., the victim was assaulted in the 600 block of Salem Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, the attacker brandished a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen before fleeing the scene.
EMS transported the unidentified victim to University Hospital in Newark in serious but stable condition.
The motive for the stabbing is under investigation.
