Two women are being treated for non-life threatening injuries after the vehicle that they occupied crashed into a church in Newark’s South Ward Tuesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, the crash happened at around 7:40 p.m. at the First Faithful Christian Ministries International Church located in the 100 block of Lyons Avenue near Parkview.
Police say the driver of the vehicle veered from the roadway and slammed into the church, causing severe structural damage to the building.
The women managed to make it out of the car immediately after the collision.
No one inside the church was injured.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
