Suspect Arrested in Paterson Shooting

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that based upon an investigation conducted by the Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with the New York City Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. David Polanco, 33, from Paterson was arrested on today in relation to a shooting investigation that took place May 18, in the area of Carroll Street Paterson.

Police say David Polanco is charged with Aggravated Assault, Second Degree; Aggravated Assault, Fourth Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Second Degree; and Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Second Degree.

According to police, at approximately 2:57 a.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Carroll Street Paterson on a report of shots fired, but were unable to locate a victim.

Police say at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the New York City Police Department advised the Paterson Police Department that a 24-year-old male Bronx, New York resident arrived at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, New York at approximately 3:30 a.m. Monday seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

Based on a joint investigation it was determined that the victim was shot in the area of Park Avenue and Carroll Street at approximately 2:57 and the shooter was identified as David Polanco.

Mr. Polanco was arrested at the New York City Police Department 52nd Precinct Bronx, New York.
