Police in Newark are reporting no injuries in a shots-fired incident that occurred in a Central Ward community Friday afternoon.
According to police, units responded to a ShotSpotter activation that alerted them of gunfire in the area of South 9th Street and 15th Avenue just before 4:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, police locating multiple shell casings, but as officers canvassed the scene, they did not find any victims.
Police say the gunman fled the scene immediately after firing shots at unknown targets.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
