Police in Newark took two car theft suspects into custody after a brief foot pursuit that occurred in the city's West Ward Tuesday morning.
Officials say units attempted to pull over a Cadillac with two occupants inside after the driver ignored traffic signals.
Officers followed the vehicle for a short distance when the pair exited the car in the 200 block of 14th Avenue and began to run from the scene.
Police say the male and female were swiftly apprehended then learned that the car that they occupied was stolen our of Millburn.
A parked car was damaged during the incident, but there were no injuries reported.
Millburn Police arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation.
