Newark Firefighters battled an early morning fire that damaged a house in a neighborhood of the city’s Forest Hill section.
According to preliminary reports, the fast-moving fire tore through the top floor of a large unoccupied two-story house located in the 500 block of Ridge Street at approximately 12:50 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found flaws as smoke coming from the building but no extensions to neighboring homes were reported.
Firefighters were able to make entry into the house and locate then extinguish the seat of the blaze.
The fire was reported under control in under a half-hour with no injuries reported. The home was under construction officials said.
The cause is under investigation.
