There is an active crime scene established in a section of Paterson as police investigate a shooting that injured a suspect this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, police attempted to get a man to drop a gun in the vicinity of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Harrison Street at around 4:10 p.m.
When the suspect didn't comply, police opened fire on him causing serious injuries.
EMS units were ordered to rush to the scene for the victim who was shot multiple times.
There are no reports of injured officers at this time.
