East Orange Firefighters extinguished a fast-moving fire that damaged a house on the north side of the city on Sunday afternoon.
Officials say, at approximately 12:30 p.m., crews were called to 167 North 17th Street to investigate reports of a fire inside a multi-family house.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames tearing through the third-floor apartment and extending to the cockloft of the house.
Firefighters were able to make their way into the house, where a search indicated no trapped or injured occupants. The fire was placed under control in under an hour with the cause under investigation.
