Police have one person in custody after a shooting in Hackensack caused injuries this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, gunfire rang out in the area of Central Avenue and First Street just before 4:25 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound in his stomach according to reports.
Police officers engage in a brief foot pursuit with the suspect before placing him in custody and confiscated a handgun. Police also arrested a second suspect on Central Avenue.
The extent of the victim’s injuries have only been reported as serious at this time.
Police say the two suspects engaged in physics altercation where a gun wet off and struck a bystander at a convenience store.
Officials say the investigation is active and going.
