Police officials in Newark are reporting that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Juan Abreu, 51, of Newark, on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with a shooting incident that occurred yesterday.
According to police, shortly before 3:40 p.m., police patrolling the area of Roseville Avenue and 6th Avenue heard gunfire and observed a silver 2003 Toyota Sienna that was left running at the scene.
Detectives investigating this incident developed evidence to identify Juan Abreu as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
While police are actively searching for Abreu, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating him as part of this investigation.
Police say, Abreu is described as 5’11” tall and 200 lbs. He has a light complexion, wears a bald head and has brown eyes.
