A fatal shooting that took the life of an Elizabeth man earlier this week is under active investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo announced today.
Officials say the victim was identified as 42-year-old Robert Owens.
During the early afternoon of Monday, March 30, Elizabeth Police Department officers responded to the area of 3rd Street and Broadway in the Elizabethport neighborhood, where they found Owens, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to the preliminary investigation.
Owens was subsequently pronounced dead according to Union County officials.
This matter remains under active joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Elizabeth Police Department, Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit, and Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
