NJ State Police officials are leading the investigation into a shooting that injured a woman on a highway in NJ Tuesday morning.
According to a preliminary statement released by NJ State Police, at approximately 5:57 a.m., police responded to the ramp to I-78 East -near exit 6- in Greenwich Township to investigate reports of shots fired.
When offices arrived, they found an unidentified woman suffering a gunshot wound inside a vehicle, according to NJ State Police.
The conscious and alert woman was rushed to an area hospital for treatment while NJ State Police Major Crimes division set up a crime scene to find the motive for the shooting.
As of 7:45 a.m., police say no suspect has been found.
The woman is expected to survive.
