Tanker Truck Gets Wedged Under Bridge in Newark's East Ward

Newark emergency responders were called to a section of the city's East Ward after a tanker truck got wedged under a bridge.

According to police, it happened at approximately 8:40 a.m. near Avenue I and Backus Street when the non-hazardous empty tanker attempted to pass under the Conrail Train Bridge and got stuck.

A heavy-duty tow truck was called to the scene to pull the tanker from under the bridge, according to police.

There were no injuries reported. Engineers were called in to check the integrity and structure of the bridge.
