The Honorable Irvington Township Mayor Tony Vaus has signed a proclamation of a local state of emergency declaration that will shut down non-essential businesses in the Township several hours earlier daily.

According to the declaration, effective March 16, 2020, at 8 p.m., Mayor Vaus stated that in conjunction with Governor's Murphy's Executive Order #104, municipalities around the state, including Irvington will join in the effort to eradicate COVID-19 which has spread to about 178 NJ residents.
Officials said two fatalities are resulting from the Coronavirus.
Mayor Vaus said all bars, nightclubs, go-go bars, movie theaters, gyms/fitness centers, factories, churches and liquor stores will be forced to close nightly at 8 p.m.
