Two Newark Police officers were taken to an area hospital for treatment of none-life threatening injuries after a domestic violence incident erupted at a Newark West Ward school.
According to authorities, police were called to the Ivy Street School after receiving reports of a man with a knife shortly before 11 a.m.
Upon arrival, police were told that a man and woman -parents of a child in the school- were outside engaged in a heated argument when the man pulled a knife on the woman according to reports.
The woman reportedly ran into the building to get away but the suspect followed inside and refused to leave.
Authorities say police found the man and attempted to make the arrest but the suspect began to resist officers.
Both police officers were taken to University Hospital where they were treated then released.
Police say there was a student performance occurring in the school at the time of the incident.
