Pennsylvania Man Charged with Two NJ Bank Robberies

New Jersey

Camden, N.J. –A Pennsylvania man has been charged for robbing two banks in three days, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer, Oaklyn Police Chief Mark Moore and Cherry Hill Police Chief William “Bud” Monaghan.

Police say Mr. Leon Stanford, 51, of Scranton, has been charged with two counts of second-degree robbery after detectives said he demanded money at two separate banks.

Investigators said Stanford first robbed the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike in Oaklyn Feb. 22 before passing a similar note demanding money to a Republic Bank employee in Cherry Hill Monday, Feb. 24.

Multiple witnesses came forward identifying Stanford in the surveillance video from TD Bank after it was released publicly.

Through the investigation, detectives learned Stanford’s white Saturn VUE matches the same vehicle captured on the surveillance footage.

Stanford was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division Feb. 25. He was transported to the Camden County Jail pending a detention hearing.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
