Police in Newark took a male into custody and charged him with a carjacking that occurred in a section of the city's South Ward Monday evening.
According to authoritities, police were notified of the armed carjacking that took place in the vicinity of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Wright Street shortly before 8:40 p.m.
Police caught up with the vehicle in the area of Stratford Place and Avon Avenue, placing the suspect in custody.
There were no physical injuries reported.
