Police are investigating a double shooting that had two victims transported by private vehicle to a Belleville Hospital Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 6:20 p.m., police were called to 100 Riverside Court after removing reports of a person shot in the head at that location.
When officers arrived, they did not find a crime scene or a victim.
Police say, at approximately 6:38 p.m., another call came in reporting a person struck by bullets in the 800 block of Broadway.
Officers arrived and found suspicious activities but no victims or a crime scene.
According to police, officials at Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville contacted authorities when two victims entered the hospital suffering bullet wounds.
Police are looking for a white Acura with reported NJ dealer license plate numbers ”DMG22o2” that fled the hospital after dropping off the victims.
Officials say at least one of the victims was transferred from Cara Maass to University Hospital for further treatment, but the extent of the patients' injuries have not been specified.
Police have not confirmed the exact location of the shooting, but after a search of the vicinity around 8:05 Broadway, a Major Crimes Unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
It is not clear if the two locations or shooting victims are connected at this time.
