There is an active search underway for a suspect/s wanted for a drive-by shooting that occurred in a Newark North Ward residential neighborhood on Tuesday night.
According to police, an off-duty police officer notified police officials after gunfire rang out in the 500 block of North 9th Street at approximately 9:32 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and set up a crime scene after they found at least one car struck by bullets at that location. Residents in the community said the block has seen escalated levels of drug transitions and other criminal activity within the last several months.
Officers searched the neighborhood but there were no victims found.
The suspects fled the scene in a white vehicle and remain at-large.
